Water - The
lifeline
Andhra Pradesh is famous for its water resources like rivers, tanks,
canals and streams. The water, which is considered as a universal
solvent, is capable of dissolving any kind of pollutant and carry it
along.
The continuous increase in the population , growth of cities, industries
and excessive production of chemical and their indiscriminate use and
discharge of effluents have all turned our drinking water muddy and
polluted.

Types of Water Diseases:
*Water borne disease like cholera, typhoid and
diarrhoea.
*Water based diseases like lymphatic filariasis.

*Water scare diseases like TB, Fungal infections & skin diseases.

- Turn off the water
when you are brushing teeth, shaving, applying soap to body in the
bathroom, applying detergent for the utensils or clothes while washing
or cleaning them.
- For your toilets get
a flush, that is water efficient.
- Limit the number of
utensils you are using.
- Capture rain water
at home, school and community for watering the plants and outdoor and
indoor washes.
- Never dump anything
in water bodies.
- Domestic wastewater
can be reused and recycled for industrial purpose.
- Water your plants
with wash water from kitchen sinks. Water them early before it is too
hot to avoid unnecessary evaporation.
- Check indoor leaks
and outdoor leaks to all water taps and pipelines once in a week.
These leaks waste huge quantities of water.
